Early Pregnancy / First Trimester Consultation
90 minute consultation with Beth S. Barbeau, CPM, LM
All in-person pregnancy consultations can include βregularβ midwife care such as vital signs and checking the baby with palpation and a fetascope or doppler; itβs also super easy to include empowering DIY in a virtual prenatal. βDual Careβ packages can be arranged to compliment your OB/CNM care, providing warm, mother/baby-centered care emphasizing education and empowerment through birth and postpartum. This appointment could also serve as Ala Carte prenatal care before you have settled on a provider, just moved or are visiting the SE Michigan area during your pregnancy. Below are some ideas of the topics you may wish to cover.
Β· Picking a provider instead of just making an appointment
Β· What to expect from the first OB visit, and choices you should be aware of
Β· What you didnβt know you need to know about Ultrasounds
Β· How to decide about prenatal testing
Β· Preventing and easing morning sickness
Β· Hyperemesis: When βmorning sicknessβ is severe, and doesnβt go away
Β· Things to avoid in early pregnancy
Β· Things you actually donβt need to avoid, no matter what the internet says
Β· 10 things your OB/Midwife havenβt told you
Β· If there is spotting and you are worried about a miscarriage
Β· Bethβs case for waiting to know the gender (canβt blame me for trying :)
Β· Essential nutrients and prenatal vitamin recommendations
Β· Bethβs list of pregnancy books, nutrition and resources
Β· Check-list of questions to ask your OB or midwife

Appointment times are generally daytimes during the week; a number of evening and weekend appointments are available each month. Beth will call to schedule your appointment, usually reaching you within 2 business days of your purchase.
All consultations are available as phone, Zoom, and Facetime; in person may be available if you are local (SE Michigan, USA). If so, indicate your interest in the βcommentβ section of your purchase, and when we schedule together we can figure it out.
